ADA Detectable Warning Paving Slabs

Detectable Warning Paving Slabs

The American Disabilities Act requires detectable warning surfaces (DWS) wherever a public walkway meets a street. The contrasting color and truncated dome design are intended to alert visually impaired pedestrians of the upcoming transition from sidewalk to street. StoneBilt Concepts® has combined extensive research with the latest concrete casting technology to create a dramatically improved detectable warning paving slab. The result: durable, more efficient domes that meet the new recommendations of both the U.S. Access Board and the Federal Highway Administration.

Thanks to our larger dome size, StoneBilt Concepts truncated domes have an increased bond strength of 240% compared to most concrete DWS in use today. Our redesigned domes are 33% flatter on approach, which reduces the risk of breakage as well as pedestrian tripping. Our ADA paving slabs are available in custom-cut tapers to allow for radius applications. These precast concrete paving slabs are easier to install or replace than composite plastic, cast iron or cast-in-place concrete—all for a fraction of the cost of products made with these materials.
